A hidden clue to the reality of God is the awareness or the universal assumption that certain actions and behaviors are wrong.  The story of the bible is how human beings inevitably do evil apart from a relationship to God.

How do we know if God is out there?  One of the underlying realities of all cultures and people is an awareness of right and wrong.  What is the reason for this?  It doesn't make sense unless there is a standard or standards above us.

Clues for God

In a secular world, the first step for most people is coming to believe there is a God.  There are clues outside of the bible that point toward God.  Anyone of them is not that significant but cumulatively they point toward the reality of God.

I don't make enough to save!

Even in hard times, we must save a little.  If we can't save, it is because we are in debt, spending too much, or unable to delay gratification.  Collecting and saving the harvest is a biblical principal.  Jesus wants us to earn all we can, save all we can, and give all we can.

Everyone has to borrow to live in this world.

We have bought into the myth that we all must borrow.  A culture of credit and instant gratification is robbing families of their hard earned cash.  God's design is that we earn all we can, save all we can, give all we can.

I earned it - I own it!

If I make it, don't I own it?  The biblical perspective that protects me from developing a love of money is called stewardship.  God owns everything and offers me a partnership with Him.

Does Jesus condemn money and material possessions?

Jesus is both positive about money and negative about money. He does not condemn money and material possessions outright but he warns that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.  Jesus followers must learn how to handle their money well if they would be faithful disciples.

Finding Jesus in All the Right Places

We sometimes imagine or even teach that we can find God best by pursuing him in private devotions.  But, a deep connection to God is also found in serving and caring for "the least of these".  Jesus' final warning about the end is that we serve him when we feed the hungry, offer water to the thirsty, dress those who clothes or shoes are worn out, care for the lonely, and visit the prisoner. We can find Jesus in a special way when we let His compassion flow through us.

The drowsy chicks were all asleep when the bridegroom came. They only had one job - one purpose. They were called to be a light - a sign signaling to everyone that the bridegroom was on the way.  The simple, end time purpose for every Jesus follower is to Let Your Light Shine.

Before the final days of earth's history, a man of sin will lead the church into apostasy.  The Son of Perdition or the Son doomed to destruction will be filled with arrogance claiming rights and powers and authorities that rightfully belong to God.  The only protection from His deception is love of the truth.

When will Jesus Return?

When Jesus was asked about the future of Jerusalem, He revealed a pattern that could be applied and amplified to include the end of the world.  But, the key sign of the return of Jesus is the spreading of the gospel.  Those who love and long for his appearing can't stop sharing and spreading the gospel.

A King Forever

Worldly leaders come and go. We believe in them but sooner or later human leaders let us down.  The marvelous promise given to King David is that even though he had fallen.  One of his descendants would reign forever. He would be that perfect image of the Heavenly Father.  He would be our King forever.

A King worth worshiping...

Isaiah loves long names in his gospel saturated book.  The longest name might be found in Isaiah 9:6-7 what most older bibles break up into five names and newer bibles into four names. Roughly translated it means "A Supernatural Planner is a Mighty God; the Father of time is a prince of peace."  This name describes both the character of God and the Messiah who will reveal God's character to the world.

A King worth listening to..

Moses predicted a prophet to come. He would speak directly for God.  The New Testament writers all point to Jesus as the one we must listen to or be cut off from God's blessings.  Jesus is the final Word from God

A King Worth Obeying

The book of Genesis is the book of beginnings. The beginnings of creation, mankind, sin, and the promise of a Messiah.  Jacob's blessings on Judah predicted a ruler who deserved our loyalty and obedience.
